AFS Chambers #CampusConnect: Adrian Fernando Delivers Public Lecture for the Judicium Ceremony of Faculty of Law Atma Jaya

Jakarta, 15 September 2025 – Adrian Fernando, Managing Partner of AFS Chambers, served as the keynote speaker at the Judicium Ceremony of the Faculty of Law, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. The event was attended by judicium participants who are set to graduate with their law degrees and embark on an increasingly challenging professional journey.

In his lecture, Adrian provided strategic guidance on the steps necessary to prepare for a career as a lawyer in today’s era of technology and artificial intelligence. He highlighted how digital transformation has reshaped almost every aspect of legal practice, including the way lawyers communicate with clients and courts. Accordingly, he emphasized that lawyers must not only master substantive legal knowledge but also adapt to rapidly evolving technologies.

Adrian further underscored that amid such sweeping changes, integrity remains the cornerstone of the legal profession. He reminded the judicium participants to always safeguard their reputation and good name, noting that public trust is the most valuable asset for any legal professional. “Reputation is built over the course of a career, yet it can collapse in an instant. Protect your good name with integrity and consistency,” Adrian remarked.

He also encouraged aspiring lawyers to continuously sharpen their skills and competencies. According to Adrian, mastering soft skills such as communication, negotiation, and critical thinking is just as vital as understanding the law itself. With a strong foundation of legal knowledge, technological adaptability, and personal skills, lawyers will be well-positioned to thrive in an increasingly competitive legal landscape both nationally and globally.

The lecture was also attended by Sharon Fricillia from Triniti Land, who shared insights from the business sector. She highlighted the crucial role of corporate legal functions within companies—emphasizing credibility, adaptability, and solution-oriented approaches—especially amid today’s complex business dynamics and regulatory frameworks. Her presence added a practical dimension to the lecture, offering participants a more comprehensive understanding of the realities of the legal profession in practice.

The judicium ceremony is expected to mark a pivotal starting point for Atma Jaya Faculty of Law graduates as they step confidently into the professional world, equipped with integrity, competence, and the readiness to face future legal challenges.
