AFS Chambers Successfully Safeguards Client’s Legal Interests in Complex Dispute Between Hotel Owner and Contractor

Jakarta, 2 June 2025 – AFS Chambers proudly announces its success in representing a prominent Indonesian hotel owner in navigating a complex legal process that spanned multiple forums, including criminal, civil, and arbitral proceedings.

The dispute arose from a series of conflicts between the hotel owner and its contractor relating to a development partnership project. In the course of the dispute, our client filed a police report against the contractor at the Police Office of Jakarta Metropolitan, alleging fraud, embezzlement, and money laundering. However, through a sound legal strategy, constructive communication, and solution-oriented negotiations, the case was ultimately closed after the parties reached an amicable settlement.

This settlement not only concluded the proceedings before Police Office of Jakarta Metropolitan but also simultaneously brought an end to two other criminal cases before different regional police offices, one civil case before the Supreme Court, and one arbitration proceeding concerning the execution of the construction agreement. As a result, all disputes that could have caused prolonged legal and business consequences were comprehensively and conclusively resolved.

This outcome underscores AFS Chambers’ commitment to safeguarding its clients’ legal interests holistically, through strategic, professional, and sustainable approaches. Adrian Fernando, Managing Partner of AFS Chambers, stated: “Ultimately, settlement is the highest value and principle that must be respected. In every dispute, the goal of law should not be merely to seek victory, but to ensure that justice is achieved in the most dignified manner.
